July 2010 President's Letter - Challenges and Opportunities
Howdy!
I am excited about the upcoming 2010-2011 year for the Greater Houston Chapter of TSPE. This year, there will be many Opportunities as well as many Challences facing the Chapter.
Some of the Challenges and Opportunities provided by the Greater Houston Chapter of TSPE include:
Continuing Education Credits
Ethics Seminars
Leadership Training
MATHCOUNTS and Future Cities Competitions,
Scholarships
I-Day Houston (Infrastructure Education for the public)
Networking with the Owners/Presidents of local Engineering Firms
PE Day at the Capital (Opportunities to interact with state legislators)
Golf Tournament
Several of these Challenges and Opportunities are already included in the Monthly Calendar of Events on the Chapter website www.tspehouston.org. I Challenge YOU to take advantage of these Opportunities to attend and become more involved. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Opportunities that have been presented by the Challenges that I have encountered through volunteering. I have learned through many years of volunteering that the rewards you reap often far exceed the efforts.
I hope you will be inspired by my Challenge and join the Greater Houston Chapter in the upcoming events. The first event is the 'TSPE Family Day at the Astros', which will be on Tuesday, August 10th at 7:05pm. The deadline to sign up is Friday, July 23rd and tickets are going FAST.
