I hope everyone survived Ike and well on their way to recovery. As a native Houstonian, I have never seen such damage inflicted on this area. It is amazing how quickly we have been able to bounce back and get this city back on its feet. We just completed a very successful state Leadership Conference in Kerrville. The Greater Houston Chapter was well represented with 13 members in attendance. Jim Dalton gave an excellent seminar on “Breaking Away from Stereotypes”. Mr. Dalton’s main point was the Licensed Professional Engineer must find a way to distinguish themselves from the engineer practicing without a license. He used the CPA as an example. Last year was a spectacular year as far as scholarships are concerned. The Greater Houston Chapter awarded two renewable 4-year scholarships in the amount of $5,500 each and three additional scholarships of $1,000 each to graduating high school students in the Houston area.
