 J. Kent O’Brien, P.E. currently serves as Senior Vice President and Managing Principal of the Austin office for Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc. He has more than 26 years of experience providing civil engineering services to a variety of public and private clients in Central and South Texas. He grew up in South Texas, graduating from George West High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1983 and became a registered professional engineer in Texas in 1988.

Mr. O’Brien has held membership and leadership roles in multiple professional and civic organizations, including the American Society of Civil Engineers, Institute of Transportation Engineers, American Public Works Association, The Greater San Antonio and Greater Austin Chambers of Commerce, Gateway San Antonio, The Real Estate Council of Austin, CEC/ PEPP Consultant Committee, North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Infrastructure Committee, Society for Marketing Professional Services and the National Society of Professional Engineers and Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) in both Bexar and Travis Chapters and statewide. He has served TSPE in many successive leadership capacities over the past 20 years and is currently serving as the State President.
